Part Two - Binaural Brighton Place and Environs

from Station of The Sound [Soundscape] by Chris Dooks

/

about

This is probably my favourite recording of Portobello. It's quite something to hear this on headphones. Brighton Place, one of the locations from Stations of The Lost is full of cobbles. When the traffic pass over the cobbles something odd happens. You can't make out the sound of the vehicles unless they are very loud. I wonder if this is because the cobbles are so bumpy, folk don't want to risk vehicle suspensions being compromised. So instead you get this kid of weird phenomena of cobble noise - phantom-like with little engine noise. Until a loud 42 bus arrives. After this sequence is a cluster of other locations not far away - can you work out where they are? Answers on a postcard...
